[Edition 44] MELBOURNE, Tuesday: A 31-year-old woman has had difficulty classifying her relationship with her boyfriend on the census form.
The woman said the pair had been dating for four months, and had casually discussed the possibility of moving in together. But she said it was probably too early to call themselves de facto.
Similarly she didn’t think it was accurate to call herself single. She said the midway ambiguity of her relationship had left her in a bind on census night.
“We’re really close and everything, but we don’t see each other all the time or anything,” she said. “I’ve stayed over at his place a few times. I’m just not sure what you’d call that, but there wasn’t a box to tick for it.”
The woman said she ended up leaving the question blank.
